Information we collect

When you post directly on Market Square, we collect the request, city, category, optional budget, optional image, and the phone number or email address you choose to provide. Your contact detail is published only after you actively agree to make it visible. Images added through the posting form are resized and re-encoded in the browser before upload, which normally removes embedded camera and location metadata.

We also process limited technical information needed to secure, measure and operate the service. Posting limits use a one-way fingerprint derived from an IP address; Market Square does not store the raw IP address in its posting-security records. Our internal analytics store aggregated counts such as visits, request views, shares, clicks, cities, categories and app usage. A one-way, daily-changing fingerprint is used to estimate unique visitors without storing raw IP addresses in the analytics dashboard. If Google Analytics is enabled, it may collect usage information such as pages visited, device information and approximate location.

Requests from public sources

Market Square may organise publicly available requests from platforms such as X and Nairaland. We display the request summary, city, category and a link to the original post. We do not intentionally publish phone numbers or email addresses from imported requests. Imported requests normally stop appearing in the public feed after 28 days.

Who can see information

Requests posted on Market Square are public. Contact details on direct posts are also public when the requester consents. Our hosting, database, authentication, analytics and security providers may process limited information on our behalf to operate the service. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and removal

We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure and improve the service, resolve disputes and meet legal requirements. Imported records may be retained internally after they stop appearing publicly. To request correction or removal of a direct post or personal information, email support@shopeen.com with the relevant request link.

Your choices

You may choose not to post contact information. You may also ask us to access, correct or remove personal information associated with a direct Market Square post, subject to applicable law and legitimate security or record-keeping requirements.
